Some clients want to explore the psychological aspect of food alongside the practical; others want a clear, evidence-based plan they can get on with. My role is to hold both perspectives and tailor support to what feels most helpful.
Registered Dietitian in Brighton and Hove, specialising in the intersection of mental health and dietetics.
I support people navigating clinical conditions where dietetic input changes outcomes, as well as people working on their relationship with food. I have completed additional training to provide specialist support for Binge Eating Disorder and Disordered Eating recovery.
I specialise in the intersection of mental health and dietetics: how psychological and social factors shape physical health. That focus is clearest in my disordered eating work, but it runs quietly through everything I do.
Some clients want to explore the psychological aspect of food alongside the practical; others want a clear, evidence-based plan they can get on with. My role is to hold both perspectives and tailor support to what feels most helpful.
I keep my client list small. It means I have time to think about your case between sessions, rather than moving you through a conveyor belt of appointments.
My practice is grounded in Health at Every Size® principles, improving health outcomes without weight stigma.

Dietitians are registered healthcare professionals who are trained to provide personal evidence-based nutrition support for medical conditions and long-term health. They work clinically as well as providing general healthy eating advice.
Regulation means we are legally bound by professional code of conduct which ensures that our practice is evidenced-based, safe and patient-centred. Our training helps us treat your condition from a clinical aspect with an understanding of the complex psychosocial drivers that influence the food we eat. This means that dietetic support will always aim to consider your whole-self: home-life, psychological drivers and clinical needs.
"Dietitian" is a legally protected title regulated by the HCPC. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals qualified to assess, diagnose and treat clinical conditions. "Nutritionist" is not a protected title in the UK.
HAES® uses evidence to illustrate the damaging effects of restrictive yo-yo dieting, and how hyper-fixation on weight can lead us away from our body's intuitive guidance on hunger / fullness (…and ironically then often leading to future weight gain!).
HAES® encourages body acceptance and body neutrality. More can be found here.
No. We are not here to put people on restrictive diets. Our focus is health and how food can support you to achieve your health goals.
Meal plans can be provided if they are appropriate for the goal and condition, however often general guidance to follow can support you more effectively as this empowers you with knowledge rather than rigidity.
Initial appointments will be a deep dive into your background: why you have come to see me, medical history, home-life and a diet-history. Diet-histories can vary: we can verbally discuss what an average day looks like for you and you are also welcome to bring in a 3-day food diary. The latter part of the consultation will be focused on your goals. We'll agree what is manageable to achieve by the next appointment and how you might go about achieving this.
Review appointments are focused on your goals and how you have managed with them. We can use this space to either set new goals or discuss how to support you with any barriers identified.
In short: for as long as you want / need.
The timeframe is dependent on you and your condition. Some people may need acute short-term intervention, whereas others will need time to implement changes and see me less frequently over a longer period. Some may also just come once! The goal of our practice is to empower you to have the knowledge and ability to not need me anymore.
Yes. Many clients come because they feel overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice or want to work on their relationship with food. A diagnosis isn't required.
